I haven’t been out running for a while.
I got sick or something….and quit…and now it’s getting colder, so I have plenty of excuses not to get out and do it….running, that is.
The fact that my legs feel like two pieces of two-by-four with an unoiled hinge in the middle doesn’t have anything to do with it.
It could be that the little bit of running that I do in my broken down PF Flyers…playing with or chasing the kids…. isn’t what it would feel like to run in a pair of proper running shoes.
Maybe cushionless and grim….old and inflexible and believing that this major cushioning breakdown is the end…and full of excuses…isn’t the finish of my rich running career?
(I’m kidding….I never had a “running career”….I just love it….love being out in the world….and moving slowly through it.)
I should put on some proper shoes and some lightweight fleece….and figure out how to run around again.
No….I should load the kids in the jog stroller and Burley and…(what else?)….and get back on a road….walking in the woods….running….active with the whole family….that’s the way to go.
Maybe my legs would feel like flexible flesh and bone again?
I should do that.
I should….I could….I would.
