opioid induced….

I listen to Public Radio…..with a capital “P” and a capital “R”….when I drive around delivering the mail…..and today they were talking about the New Hampshire primary….and then they started talking about the problems they’re having in that state with heroin use.

Apparently, the heroin has gotten really good and really cheap.

I heard “really cheap” and thought, “hmmmmmmm…..maybe….?” …..

NO….THAT’S NOT FUNNY!!

That’s not funny.

I’m so cheap sometimes, though.

While I was listening to the people talk, I remembered a commercial that I’d seen lately.

It was for a new medicine called “movantik”.

That’s a good name for what that medicine is supposed to do.

It helps you evacuate if you are constipated from using heroin….or some other kind of opioid.

Evacuate your bowels.

Poop.

I suppose that most of the constipation is caused by prescription opioids….but it would be freeing if you were a heroin addict and needed some relief from at least a small percentage of the problems your addiction was causing you.

“Opioid Induced Constipation” is a real thing.

Real enough to warrant a commercial on the Super Bowl.

It used to be commercials for ED on the Super Bowl.

That was big on the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.

Now, it’s OIC.

Are we so much in pain….and such massive users of opioids….that we need a commercial on the Super Bowl for something that’s supposed to free things up?

What if you were so numb from the opioids that you didn’t feel any pain from being bound up?

What….the….heck?

That would be bad.

Maybe all the ED people got hooked on opioids?

I’m not obsessed with this or anything…..I haven’t even mentioned it to Jenny….but…..what the heck?

You know what, though? I don’t want anybody to be in pain. Not pain that’s bad enough to need prescription pain killers…..or pain that’s caused by not being able to go to the bathroom….because you need prescription pain killers.

You can put that in quotes….if you want.

I mean what I say….sometimes.

OIC.

What a great topic of conversation.
